About Foster Care Compare

Deciding to become a foster carer is one of the most meaningful things a person can do. But navigating the world of fostering agencies — understanding the differences, knowing what to ask, figuring out which provider is right for you — can feel overwhelming before you've even begun.

That's why we built Foster Care Compare.

Whether you're just starting to think about fostering, or you're ready to take the next step, we want to make sure you have everything you need so you can feel confident in your decision making.

We're starting in Birmingham and expanding across the UK.

We are an independent advice service, not a fostering agency

We are an independent advice service, which means we are transparent and unbiased. We are not affiliated with any fostering agency, and we do not place children into care. We give you clear, honest information so that you can make the right decision for you and your family.

How we operate

We want to give you the full picture. That's why we include local authorities and charitable fostering services as free listings alongside independent agencies.

Charities and local authorities exist to serve public need, not to compete commercially, so we'll never charge them to appear here.

To keep the site running, independent fostering agencies pay a fee to be listed on this site. This funding is what allows us to offer a genuinely balanced service that promotes fostering providers and celebrates fostering as a whole.

We think that's the right way to do it. And we think you deserve to know.
